VPI's Entry-Level High-End Traveler Turntable features a 10" Traveler Tonearm. The 10" Traveler is an incredibly low-friction Tonearm that features a Spring Loaded Sapphire Gimballed Bearing with incredibly low friction levels. The Traveler is the culmination of VPI refined engineering and technology providing quality Sound and easy usability at a more affordable price. The Traveler was also partially inspired by ideas from VPI's Award-Winning Scout and Classic models! The new belt-driven motor, which can handle both 33 1/3 and 45 rpm speeds, allows stable vibration-free performance, which results in better speed stability and tremendous bottom-end control. Just like the popular VPI Classic, the Traveler also features a heavy aluminum and steel platter, that performs perfectly within the design. Based on some tried and true methods of making gyroscopes (but with a few cool engineering twists), the new 10" Gimbaled-bearing tonearm is a first for VPI. Consisting of four Gimbal bearings made of extremely sharp, hardened-steel male points going into sapphire female cups, these cups are spring-loaded against the points so the arm never experiences chatter, and has extremely low resonance, just like the VPI Unipivot arms. Due to the spring loading of the bearings, upon final factory adjustment of the tonearm, there is virtually no friction. The new Gimbaled-bearing tonearm design has absolutely no resonance in the audio band and is essentially a perfect bearing assembly!
